1938 Against the backdrop of Anti-Japanese War, National Normal College was established in Anhua, Hunan.
1949 Since the establishment of P.R.C., National Normal College merged into Hunan University.
1952 In the waves of adjusting disciplines in P.R.C., Hunan University was called off and Hunan Normal College was established.
1984 Hunan Normal College changed its name into Hunan Normal University.
1996 Hunan Normal University became the first batch of universities under the national “211 project”.
2017 Hunan Normal University became one of the key universities under the national “Double-First Class” initiative.
